Martin Kaymer led from start to finish to win the 2014 US Open at Pinehurst.
Finishing 9 under par he was 8 shots better than his nearest rivals, Ricky Fowler and Erik Compton on 1 under.
England (575-9 dec & 267-8 dec) drew with Sri Lanka (453 & 201-9)
Sri Lanka's last wicket stand denied England victory in the first test at Lords. Umpire Paul Reiffel had given Nuwan Pradeep out lbw off the penultimate ball to see England go one up in the two test series. Sri Lanka used the decision review system to reveal an inside edge. More drama was to follow off the last ball when an outside edge landed agonisingly short of second slip and the tourists survived.
It's all to play for at Hedingley where the second test starts on Friday 20 June.
Holders Spain are out of the World Cup.
Beaten 2-0 by a hard working Chile side, Spain become the fifth defending champions to go out at the group stage. Some say it was a tournament too far. Others that Spain had finally had their day and a faster paced counter attacking style of football was now needed.
In the other Group B game Australia came close to shocking the Netherlands. The game ended 3-2 to the Dutch and the Soceroos were also eliminated from the competition. Unlike the Spanish they can leave the tournament with their heads held high and should be proud of the way they have played.
In Group A Cameroon went out at the group stage yet again as they lost 4-0 to Croatia. Barcelona midfielder Alex Song bizarrely lashed out at Mandzukic's back as he tracked the Croatia striker, and referee Pedro Proenca had no alternative in showing him a red card. To add further shame to their exit Benoit Assou-Ekotto headbutted team-mate Benjamin Moukandjo during an injury time altercation.
The remaining fixtures in Group A see Cameroon face Brazil whilst Croatia play Mexico. The latter three playing for their place in the next round of matches.
