Hard act to follow
So the Manchester United fans want Moyes out.
Just a gentle reminder to the Old Trafford faithful…
Sir Alex Ferguson was appointed as Manchester United
manager on the 6 November 1986. At the
end of the 1986/1987 season they finished 11th with 56 points, 30 behind
title winners Everton who finished with 86. The 87/88 season, Ferguson’s second
season in charge saw them finishing a creditable second place with 81 points, 9
behind Liverpool who won the title with 90. They again finished 11th in
the 88/89 season. This time with 51 points, 25 behind winners Arsenal.
If the board at Old Trafford back then had sacked
Ferguson the history books would have looked oh so different. Back then the
‘quick fix’ culture in English football hadn’t quite got started and so they
continued to show confidence in the man who would go on to become an Old
Trafford Legend.
To date Manchester United sit in 7th
place in the Premier League with 51 point, 18 behind current league leaders
Chelsea who have 69. This being the case
shouldn’t David Moyes be afforded the same time to turn things round?
