Gareth Bale from Tottenham to Real Madrid for £86 million...Has the world gone mad?

I do enjoy watching a gifted footballer but when the fees to transfer from one club to another reach these heady heights then enough is enough. His wages at Spurs are reportedly to be in the region of £3.9 million and I am sure that they will be significantly higher if and when he signs for Real Madrid.

Admittedly a professional footballers career is a short one, however when a footballer is on almost 27 times more than the Prime Minister of the country he is playing in then something has gone seriously wrong somewhere. If we were talking about the CEO of a Bank we would be calling the salary and bonuses scandalous. 

Still it's football the game we love and so that makes it alright then!
